Connecting to the yesteryear part 2
Our whole being is made up of countless connections. Our cells, mind, and body are all composed of connections that communicate with each other day in and day out. These connections form the essential foundation for our functioning. Without this connection, we simply would not exist. But in addition to the connection with ourselves, we also need connections with others. This realization came to me early on when I lost my mother. Drawing inspiration from my bond with her, a mini-collection emerged that represents grief.
This collection originated from my personal connection with my mother and symbolizes the pain and sorrow we all experience in our lives. Grief is a universal emotion that connects people, as we all face loss in varying degrees. That is why it is relatable and resonates with many. To depict this connection between people, I have symbolically incorporated and at times even exposed the thread in the knitwear. My focus is specifically on people who are currently grieving and seeking a way to express themselves through their clothing. Through these garments, they can externalize their inner emotions while simultaneously experiencing a sense of connection with others who share the same pain.
