Potential collection

We live in a period in which the earth is warming more and more quickly. This movement has been going on for a number of years and we are now starting to see the effects of this in more extreme nature. (Globalcitizen, 2021) For example, it is increasingly hotter and drier in certain places and in other places the water is steaming through the streets. The problem is that this extreme nature will become more and more common (IPCC,2021) and we will not survive those living conditions if we continue to live in the same way.

One way to make people more aware of the consequences of climate change and our perhaps completely different living environment is to let people experience it. (National Geographic, 2008). For example, we have already looked at how we might adapt to nature by living on the water (Ecofriend, 2011). But we are also looking at how our clothing could help us survive. (The Next Cartel, 2021) For example, by combining the right shapes and adding extra functions to the clothing.

Something about which there is very little information of, are the future proof textiles. Textiles that help us survive life under and on water and against the heat on land. What do these consist of? How do they look like? Although it is of course unknown what will be possible in 1000 years, perhaps an interpretation of this other world can be made by means of digital technology. By applying virtual prototyping and visualization software, textiles, garments and bodies can be designed that are not yet possible. Technology such as CLO3D, Blender, MakeHuman, Vizoo scanner and Vectary.

How do you design and visualize a future proof collection made entirely from future textiles using digital fashion technology?
